why is this the opposite in males?

I think you’re being too hard on yourself. There is nothing wrong with only going out with people you’re interested in.

You can’t expect an instant long-term relationship, they don’t exist. The first step to finding someone is to go on a first date, not to propose. If you like someone, go out with them and have fun, don’t worry about marriage until later. Usually marriages that occur within the first year of the couple meeting each other fail.

Be patient! You sound like a totally great guy, and I’m sure you’ll find someone soon.

By the way: don’t use dating services online. They’re a waste of time. Get involved in some activity at your college or in your community, then you’ll meet someone who shares your interests.
